Matte art paper wrap
Matte art paper is smooth coated paper, printed offset and glued over rigid board as the outer wrap, and it is the standard wrap on Tria rigid boxes. Because the surface is smooth and coated, it holds full color artwork, fine type and photography better than linen or kraft. On its own it feels plain, so pair it with soft-touch or choose linen when the box should feel textured.

When to choose it, and when not to
Choose matte art paper whenever the box carries real artwork: a pattern, an illustration, product photography, a full-wrap brand color with small type. It is the surface where color is most predictable, and every finish on the site works over it.
Skip it bare when you want texture in the hand. Add soft-touch lamination for a velvet feel with full color, or choose linen wrap for a woven texture with a single mark.

Questions about matte art paper
Why is matte art paper the standard rigid box wrap?
It is smooth and coated, so it prints color and fine detail accurately and takes every finish we offer. Textured wraps like linen look richer but limit what you can print.
Does a matte art paper wrap need lamination?
Not always. For a box that is handled a lot or shipped, a soft-touch or gloss lamination protects the print from scuffs. For a box that sits in a drawer, the bare matte paper is fine.
Can I foil and deboss on matte art paper?
Yes. Foil, blind deboss and spot UV all work on it, over or without a lamination.
Is matte art paper the same on bags and rigid boxes?
It is the same type of coated paper, used at different weights. Gift bags and euro totes run 157 to 210 gsm art paper laminated; rigid boxes use it as a wrap over grayboard.
