We produce them on 1200 or 1500 gsm board from 200 units in 12 to 14 business days after proof. The lid can be full depth, or a shallow shoulder lid that shows a band of the base.
When to choose it, and when not to
Choose a two piece box when the product is heavy or the box will be handled a lot. The lid carries no hinge or magnet, so nothing wears out. It suits chocolates, candles, ceramics, apparel sets and anything sold in a shop where the lid is lifted a hundred times.
Choose a magnetic box when the reveal matters more than the strength and you want the lid to open flat. Choose a folding carton if the box ships inside another box and nobody will keep it.

Questions people ask
How tight should the lid fit?
Snug enough to lift the base a fraction before it slides off. We allow a small clearance around the base, which can be tuned on a prototype if you order one; tell us if the box will be opened often in a shop and we loosen it slightly.
What is a shoulder lid?
A lid that sits on a raised inner tray so a band of the base shows around the lid. It reads as more expensive and lets you use two colors or two finishes on one box.
Can the base be a different color from the lid?
Yes. They are wrapped separately. A dark lid over a pale base, or a linen lid over a matte base, is a common choice and costs no extra process.
How are they shipped to me?
Assembled, lids nested on bases, in outer cartons of 20 to 40 depending on size. Rigid boxes do not fold flat, so tell us if storage space is tight and we suggest the collapsible version.
Do you supply the tissue and the card?
We do. Printed tissue, a belly band and a thank-you card are on our inserts and finishing list and are made to match the box.
How is the two piece lid and base box different from the shoulder box?
The two piece box is a lift-off lid over a base on 1200 or 1500 gsm board, full depth, half depth or with a short visible band at the base. The shoulder box adds a third part, a recessed inner neck the lid sits down onto, which leaves a 0.25 to 0.5 inch band of contrast color showing and gives a slower, tighter lift; it runs 1500 gsm on the base and lid. Both start at 200 units in 12 to 14 business days after proof. For strength and simplicity, two piece. For a fragrance, spirits or jewelry piece where the opening should feel deliberate, the shoulder box.
