Round rigid box
1000 gsm board200 minimum · 12 to 14 business daysA round rigid box is a cylindrical base and lift-off lid built from curved 1000 gsm board and wrapped in printed paper, so there are no corners and no seam on the face. We produce them from 200 units in 12 to 14 business days after proof. Common sizes are 4 inch or 6 inch diameters at 3 to 4 inches tall, for candles, skincare and gifts.
When to choose it, and when not to
Choose a round box when the product is round and you want the box to say so: a candle in a tumbler, a jar of cream, a bottle of oil, a stack of macarons. It sits on a shelf without a hard edge, so it photographs softly and looks finished from every angle. The lid face is a clean circle for a logo, a foil stamp or a full-bleed pattern, and the wall gives you a continuous band of print around the whole box.
Choose a two-piece lid and base box instead when you ship in volume, because round boxes do not nest, do not stack cleanly and waste about 20 percent of a carton to air. Choose a paper tube with lid when the product is tall and narrow, since a tube is spiral wound and stiffer than a curved board wall at that height.

Questions people ask
Is there a visible seam?
One, on the wall, where the wrap overlaps itself by about a quarter inch. We place it on the back directly opposite the logo so it faces the shelf. On linen and matte papers it is close to invisible; on a dark soft-touch wrap you can find it if you look. The lid disc has no seam at all.
Why 1000 gsm rather than 1200?
Because board has to curve to make the wall, and 1200 gsm board at 0.08 in cracks on diameters under about 5 inches. 1000 gsm at 0.06 in bends clean down to a 2.5 inch diameter. The lid disc and base disc do not bend, so we use 1200 gsm there for stiffness and the box still feels heavy in the hand.
How tight should the lid be?
Snug enough to lift the base a half inch before it lets go, loose enough that it does not need a twist. We allow about 0.02 in of clearance on the diameter. Round lids are more sensitive to humidity than square ones, so we also add a small vent notch on the inside rim to stop the lid sticking with suction.
Can it hold a candle upright in shipping?
Yes, with a collar. A die-cut paperboard ring sits in the base and grips the glass around its widest point, so the candle cannot rock or touch the wall. For an 8 oz or 10 oz tumbler we recommend the round box inside a mailer for parcel shipping; the round box alone is a gift box, not a shipper.
Can the wall be printed all the way around?
Yes. The wall wrap is one continuous piece of paper, so a pattern, a color band or a line of text can run right around the box with a single meeting point at the seam. We supply the dieline as a flat rectangle with the seam allowance marked, so you can see exactly where the pattern joins.
How is the round rigid box different from the hat box?
Both are round, wrapped rigid boxes. The round rigid box is curved 1000 gsm board with a 1200 gsm lid disc and a lift-off lid 0.5 to 1 inch deep, for candles, bath products and small gifts, from 200 units in 12 to 14 business days after proof. The hat box is deeper and stiffer, 1200 gsm with a telescoping lid that lifts fully off, sized to clear a structured crown and brim, with an optional foam crown support, from 200 units in 12 to 14 business days. For a hat, use the hat box; for most other round gifts, the round rigid box.
