Drawer box
1200 gsm board, linen wrap200 minimum · 12 to 14 business daysA drawer box is a rigid sleeve with a tray that slides out, usually on a ribbon pull. We produce them on 1200 gsm board from 200 units in 12 to 14 business days after proof. The sleeve is the printed surface and the tray carries the insert, so the reveal is slow and the product is framed as it appears.
When to choose it, and when not to
Choose a drawer box for jewelry, watches, small fragrance, tech accessories and anything where the reveal is the point. The slide gives a second of anticipation and the tray keeps the product framed once open.
Choose a magnetic box for anything wider than about 10 inches, because a long drawer racks and sticks. Choose a two piece box for heavy products; a drawer tray is not built to carry weight on its own.

Questions people ask
Does the tray stick?
Not if the box is sized right. We allow a small clearance between tray and sleeve, and a prototype to check it is available on request. Drawers wider than 10 inches are where sticking starts, and we steer those projects to a magnetic box.
Can the ribbon be my brand color?
Yes. Satin and grosgrain ribbon are stocked in about forty colors, and we can dye to a Pantone reference for larger runs.
Is there a stop so the tray cannot fall out?
Yes. A folded tab on the tray meets a lip inside the sleeve. It is standard and adds nothing to the lead time.
Can I print inside the tray?
Yes. The tray floor is a good place for a message or a pattern under the insert, and it is printed on the same wrap.
What insert suits a ring?
A velvet-flocked paperboard insert with a slot, or a small foam block flocked to match. Send the ring size and we spec the slot to it.
How is the drawer box different from the sleeve and tray carton?
The drawer box is rigid: a 1200 gsm wrapped sleeve and tray with a ribbon or thumb-notch pull and a stop so the tray cannot fall out, delivered assembled and kept, from 200 units in 12 to 14 business days after proof. The sleeve and tray carton opens the same way but is 24pt SBS that ships flat, so it costs less to store and freight, from 200 units in 10 to 14 business days. For jewelry, a watch or a gift that stays on a dresser, the drawer box. For a retail product where the slide is the moment but the box is recycled, the carton.
