Fragrance box with insert

1200 gsm, fitted insert200 minimum · 12 to 14 business days

A fragrance box with insert is a wrapped 1200 gsm rigid box with a die-cut or foam insert cut to your bottle, so a 30, 50 or 100 ml flacon sits upright and cannot move. We produce them from 200 units in 12 to 14 business days after proof. Most run 4 by 4 by 6 inches for one bottle, or 8 by 5 by 5 with vials.

When to choose it, and when not to

Choose this box when the bottle is glass, the cap is heavy and the box has to arrive with both intact. A fragrance flacon is top heavy, so a loose bottle in a rigid box breaks the neck or scuffs the cap in transit. The insert holds it by the shoulders and keeps the cap off the lid. It suits eau de parfum, extrait, oils in dropper bottles, and discovery sets with a bottle and two or three vials.

Choose a cosmetic carton instead when the bottle already has a sturdy outer carton and this box is only a shipper, since a folding carton with a cradle protects a bottle for less board. Choose a drawer box when the reveal matters more than upright presentation, because a drawer shows the bottle lying down.

Questions people ask

How do you get the insert to fit my bottle exactly?

Send the bottle drawing from your glass supplier, or mail us one bottle. We trace the outline at its widest point and at the shoulder, add 0.04 in of clearance, and spec a two-layer paperboard collar or a foam block to that profile. A white prototype, available on request, is where you check the fit with a real filled bottle; timing is confirmed in your quote.

Should the cap stay on the bottle or come off in the box?

Either works, but a heavy cap left on a bottle makes the whole thing top heavy and the neck is where it breaks. For caps over about 1 ounce we spec a second cavity so the cap sits beside the bottle. For light plastic caps the bottle stays capped and the insert grips the shoulder below the cap.

Paperboard or foam insert?

Paperboard when the bottle is under 50 ml or the brand wants a fully paper box; a two-layer die-cut collar holds a small flacon firmly and recycles with the box. Foam when the bottle is 100 ml or heavier glass, or when the outline is awkward. EVA foam flocked in black or a color looks the most expensive of the two.

Can the box hold discovery vials as well?

Yes. A common layout is the full bottle at one end and a row of two or three 2 ml vials in slots beside it, all in the same insert. Vials are held by the body with the cap above the insert surface so they lift out with a fingertip. Send us the vial outer diameter and we spec the slots to it.

Will the bottle survive a carrier?

Inside a mailer, yes. The insert stops the bottle moving and the rigid walls take the knocks. The rigid box on its own is a presentation box, so for parcel shipping we pair it with a mailer or a shipper with a cradle.

What is the minimum order for a fragrance box with insert?

200 units, and reorders carry the same minimum. Lead time is 12 to 14 business days after you approve the free digital proof.

Perfume carton or rigid fragrance box with insert: which should I choose?

Choose by price point and by whether the box gets kept. The perfume carton is a 24pt SBS folding carton with a fitted paperboard cradle: it ships flat, suits retail shelves and gift sets at a sensible unit cost, and starts at 500 units in 10 to 12 business days after proof. The fragrance box with insert is a wrapped 1200 gsm rigid box with a paperboard or foam insert cut to the bottle: it arrives assembled, it is the box people keep, and it starts at 200 units in 12 to 14 business days after proof. For a first run under 500 units, the rigid box is the one that fits the quantity.
