Jewelry box
1000 gsm, velvet insert200 minimum · 12 to 14 business daysA jewelry box is a small rigid box on 1000 gsm board with a velvet-flocked insert cut for a ring, earrings, a pendant or a bracelet. We produce them from 200 units in 12 to 14 business days after proof, as a lift-off lid, a hinged lid or a drawer. A ring box is 2 by 2 by 1.5 inches; a necklace box is 7 by 3.5 by 1.25.
When to choose it, and when not to
Choose a jewelry box when the piece is small, the box will be kept, and the moment of opening is watched by someone else. A flocked insert holds a ring upright at the right angle, keeps earrings paired, and stops a chain tangling. The lid is small, so a single foiled mark or a blind deboss does more than a full print. It suits fine jewelry, demi-fine, and any brand that sells gifts more than self-purchases.
Choose a drawer box instead when you want a slower reveal and a larger printed surface, since a drawer sleeve carries more artwork than a small lid. Choose a straight tuck end carton for costume jewelry sold at volume on a card, because a rigid box is built to be kept and a carton is built to be opened and thrown away.

Questions people ask
How is a ring held so it does not fall over?
A slot about 0.08 in wide is cut through a flocked foam or paperboard pad, and the ring band pushes into it and is held by friction on both sides. The slot sits slightly off center so the stone faces the person opening the box. For wide bands or stacking sets we spec the slot to your band width; tell us the ring size and we set the depth.
How do you stop a necklace tangling?
With a hook and a groove. A small flocked hook at the top of the insert takes the clasp, and a shallow groove runs down the insert so the chain lays in a line with the pendant seated in a cut-out at the bottom. Chains up to 18 inches lay flat in a 7 inch box; longer chains loop once at the top.
Can I match the velvet to my brand color?
We stock black, cream, navy, burgundy, gray and blush flocking. For an exact Pantone match we flock to order, which adds about 5 business days and suits runs of a few hundred or more. Flocking is a nylon fiber bonded to the paperboard, so the color is solid and does not rub off.
Should the box have a hinged lid or a lift-off lid?
Hinged when the box is for a proposal or a shop counter, because the lid opens with one hand and frames the ring against the lid lining. Lift-off when the box is shipped or sits in a bag, because there is no hinge to strain and it stacks flat. Both take the same insert and the same wrap.
Can I get the box in an outer sleeve or a pouch?
Yes. A printed paperboard sleeve slides over a lift-off box and gives you a full-bleed surface for artwork without printing on the box itself. A cotton or microfiber pouch is a common addition for a necklace box. Both are quoted with the box and ship fitted, so nothing is assembled at your end.
How is the jewelry box different from the ring box?
The jewelry box covers the whole line: 1000 gsm board, 1200 over 6 inches or with a magnet, a velvet-flocked insert cut for a ring, earrings, a pendant or a bracelet, and a lift-off lid, hinged lid with ribbon stay or a drawer. The ring box is a small rigid box for one ring, with a slotted foam or velvet insert that holds it upright and a hinged or two-piece lid. Both start at 200 units in 12 to 14 business days after proof. Most jewelry brands need two sizes; if one of them is only ever a ring, that is the ring box.
