Apparel mailer box

E-flute, low profile, tissue ready200 minimum · 10 to 14 business days

An apparel mailer box is a low profile E-flute corrugated mailer, usually 2 to 3 inches deep, sized to a folded garment with a layer of tissue on top. We produce them, printed outside and inside, from 200 units in 10 to 14 business days after proof. The common sizes are 12 by 9 by 2 for a tee and 13 by 10 by 3 inches for a hoodie.

When to choose it, and when not to

Choose an apparel mailer when a garment ships on its own or two at a time and you want it to arrive folded rather than balled. A tee folded to 11 by 8 inches sits flat in a 12 by 9 by 2 inch box with tissue and does not shift. Streetwear drops, merch, uniforms and premium basics all use this shape. The low profile keeps the parcel in a cheap carrier band, which a poly mailer also does, but a poly mailer does not open like a box.

Choose a poly mailer when the garment is cheap, the volume is high and nobody is filming the opening, because it costs less to ship and stores in a drawer. Choose a laminated euro tote if the garment sells in a shop rather than online, since a mailer is not a bag.

Questions people ask

What size box fits a folded t-shirt?

A men's medium folded in thirds is about 11 by 8 inches and a half inch thick. A 12 by 9 by 2 inch box takes one tee with tissue, or two tees stacked. A hoodie folds to about 12 by 9 by 2.5, so it needs a 13 by 10 by 3 inch box. Send us the garment and we measure it folded.

How many garments can one box hold?

Two to three tees in a 2 inch box, one hoodie or two sweatshirts in a 3 inch box, four to five tees in a 4 inch box. Beyond 4 inches deep the box stops being low profile and a standard mailer is a better shape.

Does a 2 inch box survive shipping?

Yes. A low box is stiffer than a tall one because the walls are short. E-flute at 32 ECT handles a garment easily. The lid is the weak point on any mailer, so we add side locking tabs and recommend a tear strip only if the box will not be resealed for returns.

Can you add a tissue sheet and a card?

Yes. Printed 17 gsm tissue in one color, a 350 gsm thank you card and a belly band all ship flat with the boxes. Tissue is the one add-on we usually suggest for apparel because it is the first thing seen when the lid lifts.

Kraft or white?

White prints color accurately and reads as a considered brand. Kraft reads as workwear or vintage and hides shipping scuffs better. Both take one color flexo or full color digital at the same lead time.

How is the apparel mailer box different from T-shirt packaging?

Range of depth and print. The apparel mailer runs 1.5 to 4 inches deep, sized to the number of garments, so it covers a single tee up to a hoodie or a two-piece set, and it prints one color flexo or full color digital inside and out. T-shirt packaging is the fixed low-profile version, about 1.5 to 2 inches deep, for one folded shirt or a thin stack, printed offset with foil available. The apparel mailer starts at 200 units in 10 to 14 business days after proof; T-shirt packaging at 200 units in 10 to 12 business days. Mixed garment orders suit the apparel mailer; a single-tee drop suits the T-shirt box.
