Subscription box
E-flute, printed inside, tuck tab200 minimum · 10 to 14 business daysA subscription box is an E-flute corrugated mailer with a tuck tab lid, printed inside and out, sized to the carrier rate band you ship in. We produce them from 200 units in 10 to 14 business days after proof, so a 50 subscriber launch and a 5000 subscriber month run on the same box. Common sizes are 9 by 6 by 3 and 11 by 8 by 4 inches.
When to choose it, and when not to
Choose a subscription box when the same box goes out every month and the opening is the product. A printed inside lid, a card, a tissue layer and a tray that keeps five items from sliding are what get the box filmed and posted. Because the run repeats, the size matters more than on a one-off. A box that sits just under a carrier rate band saves on every parcel for a year, and a box half an inch too tall costs on every parcel for a year.
Choose an inside printed mailer if you sell one product on repeat and do not need a tray or a card slot, since the subscription build adds parts you will not use. Choose a subscription rigid box for a quarterly or luxury tier where the box itself is part of the value and the freight can bear an assembled box.

Questions people ask
How do I size a subscription box for shipping rates?
Measure your fullest month, not your lightest. Then check the outside dimensions against the carrier's band. A common target is under 1 cubic foot and under 1 pound for the cheapest USPS rate. We size the box so the outside lands just under the band you choose, and we send the outside dimensions on the proof so you can check them.
Can the design change every month?
Yes. The dieline stays the same and only the art changes, so a new month is a new proof and a new print run, not a new box. We usually suggest keeping the outside constant and changing only the inside lid print, which is cheaper and keeps the parcel recognizable.
What holds the products in place?
A die-cut E-flute or paperboard tray with a cavity per item. A tray adds one part to assemble and stops five items becoming a pile at the bottom. For soft goods only, printed tissue and a card are usually enough.
Is a tear strip worth it?
For a subscription, yes. A perforated strip along the front means the customer opens it without a knife and the box survives to be filmed. It adds a die-cut feature and no extra lead time. It does mean the box is not easily resealed, so it is not for returns.
How far ahead should I order?
Allow 10 to 14 business days after proof for the boxes, plus a day for the proof, plus transit. For a monthly send, order 5 to 6 weeks before the ship date. Reorders on the same dieline are faster to proof because only the art changes.
How is the subscription box different from the subscription rigid box?
The subscription box is the shipper. It is an E-flute corrugated mailer printed inside and out, it ships flat to you and goes through a carrier on its own, sized to the rate band you ship in. The subscription rigid box is a wrapped 1200 gsm board box with a magnetic lid that the subscriber keeps; it arrives assembled and travels inside a plain mailer. Both start at 200 units in 10 to 14 business days after proof. Most boxes are opened once, so the mailer is the sensible default. The rigid box earns its cost on a welcome kit or a premium tier.
