Inside printed mailer box

E-flute, printed inside and out200 minimum · 10 to 14 business days

An inside printed mailer box is an E-flute corrugated mailer with full color on the outside and a second full color print on the inside liner, so the box opens onto a pattern, a message or a solid color. We produce them from 200 units in 10 to 14 business days after proof. Common sizes are 8 by 6 by 3 and 10 by 8 by 4 inches.

When to choose it, and when not to

Choose an inside printed mailer when the opening is the moment you are paying for. Subscription boxes, launch kits, influencer seeding and anything that gets filmed on a phone earn the second print. The inside liner is a clean white surface, so color lands bright and a pattern reads at full strength. A short message on the lid underside is read by nearly everyone who opens the box, which is more than can be said for the outside.

Choose a full color printed mailer if only the outside matters and the box is opened out of sight, since the inside pass is a cost you will not see back. Choose a corrugated shipping box for heavy goods over about 8 pounds, because E-flute is built to be printed, not to carry weight.

Questions people ask

Does inside printing add to the lead time?

No. Both sides are printed on the same sheet before it is cut, so the inside pass sits inside the normal 10 to 14 business days. What it adds is one more surface to proof, so check the inside artwork as carefully as the outside on your digital proof.

What does the inside print sit on?

A white inner liner. E-flute board is made with a liner on each face, and we specify a bleached white liner on the inside so color prints clean. On a kraft outer version the inside is still white, which is a nice surprise when the box opens.

Can the inside be a different design from the outside?

Yes, and it usually should be. We usually suggest a quiet outside for the carrier and a loud inside for the customer. The two designs are supplied as one dieline with two art layers, and we send back one proof showing both faces.

Will the inside print show through or scuff?

Not through the board: E-flute is about 0.06 in thick. Scuffing on the inside is rare because nothing rubs it in transit. On the outside we recommend a matte aqueous coat on runs over 250 units to protect the print from carrier conveyor belts.

Which sizes print best inside?

Anything from 6 by 4 by 2 up to 18 by 14 by 8 inches. The sweet spot is 8 by 6 by 3 to 12 by 10 by 4, where the lid underside is large enough for a message and the walls tall enough for a pattern to be seen.

What is the minimum order for a inside printed mailer box?

200 units, and reorders carry the same minimum. Lead time is 10 to 14 business days after you approve the free digital proof.

Inside printed mailer or candle shipper: which should I choose?

If the box carries a glass jar, choose the candle shipper. It has a die-cut E-flute cradle that holds the jar off the walls and the floor, and it can be printed full color outside and inside, so you keep the reveal. The inside printed mailer has no cradle as standard; it is built for apparel, subscription kits and anything that will not crack, where the printed interior is the point. Both start at 200 units; the candle shipper runs 10 to 12 business days after proof and the inside printed mailer 10 to 14.
