Candle shipper box

E-flute with die-cut cradle200 minimum · 10 to 12 business days

A candle shipper box is an E-flute corrugated mailer with a die-cut E-flute cradle that holds a glass candle jar off the walls and off the floor. We produce them from 200 units in 10 to 12 business days after proof, one color or full color, with full color inside print available. The common sizes are 5 by 5 by 5 for one 8 oz jar and 11 by 5 by 5 inches for two.

When to choose it, and when not to

Choose a candle shipper when glass jars go through a carrier on their own. A jar held clear of the walls by a cradle rides out a dropped parcel far better than one sitting on the floor of a plain mailer. The usual builds are one 8 oz jar, two 8 oz jars or four 4 oz tins. One color on kraft suits the category and keeps the cost close to a plain box. The cradle is where the money should go.

Choose a candle carton in 20pt SBS for the box the candle sits in on a shelf, since a shipper is an outer box, not a retail box. Choose a candle tube if the candle is a gift and the packaging is part of it, because a corrugated mailer is built to survive, not to be kept.

Questions people ask

What size box fits an 8 oz candle jar?

A standard 8 oz straight sided jar is about 3.5 inches wide and 3.5 tall with the lid. In a cradle it needs a 5 by 5 by 5 inch box. A 12 oz jar at 4 by 4.5 inches needs 6 by 6 by 6. Two 8 oz jars sit in an 11 by 5 by 5 inch box with a two cavity cradle.

How does the cradle protect the glass?

Two die-cut E-flute collars, one at the base and one at the shoulder, hold the jar so no glass touches a wall and there is half an inch of air under the base. The flute crushes on impact instead of the jar. Before you approve the run, drop-test a filled box on its corners and edges from about 3 feet, and we will tell you what to look for.

Kraft or printed?

One color on kraft is the standard for candle shippers and is the fastest run. Full color is available if the shipper is also the gift box. We usually suggest keeping the shipper plain and spending on the carton or label the customer keeps.

Can it hold tins instead of jars?

Yes. A 4 oz tin is about 2.75 inches across and 1.5 tall, and four of them sit in a 6 by 6 by 3 inch box with a four cavity insert. Tins do not need a floor gap, so the box can be shallower than a jar box.

Does the box need an outer shipper as well?

No. The candle shipper is the outer box. It is built to be labeled and handed to the carrier as it is, and the 32 ECT board is rated for that. If you put it inside another carton you are paying for two boxes to do one job.

What is the minimum order for a candle shipper box?

200 units, and reorders carry the same minimum. Lead time is 10 to 12 business days after you approve the free digital proof.

Inside printed mailer or candle shipper: which should I choose?

If the box carries a glass jar, choose the candle shipper. It has a die-cut E-flute cradle that holds the jar off the walls and the floor, and it can be printed full color outside and inside, so you keep the reveal. The inside printed mailer has no cradle as standard; it is built for apparel, subscription kits and anything that will not crack, where the printed interior is the point. Both start at 200 units; the candle shipper runs 10 to 12 business days after proof and the inside printed mailer 10 to 14.
