When to choose it, and when not to
Choose a paperboard pre roll or vape tube to move off the plastic pop-top tube onto a printed paper one that still passes the child resistant test where your state requires it. A single tube at 0.75 by 4.5 inches replaces a plastic doob tube one for one. A five-pack with a divider keeps the rolls from crushing each other, and a cartridge tube with a foam cradle holds a cart still. Choose a child resistant mylar bag for flower sold by weight or for edibles, since a tube only holds rolled or cartridge products. Choose a hanging tab carton for a vape cartridge blister sold on a peg, where the retailer wants a flat pack rather than a tube.

Is the paper tube child resistant?
With the push-and-turn cap, yes. The cap and tube combination is tested to 16 CFR 1700.20, and test documentation is available on request. The paper slip lid version is not child resistant and is for hemp, CBD and markets that do not require it. Round or square?
Round spiral wound tubes feel like a cigar tube and take a child resistant cap. Square folded tubes on 20pt SBS ship flat, print on all four sides and cost less to freight, but they take a tuck closure only. For a single pre roll in a regulated state, round with the CR cap. For a five-pack in a hemp market, square is the better shelf box.
Does it keep the pre roll fresh?
A paperboard tube is not a barrier; it keeps a pre roll from being crushed, not from drying out. For freshness the roll goes in a sealed mylar sleeve inside the tube, or the tube is sold within a few weeks of packing. A humidity pack in the five-pack is common.
What has to be printed on it?
That depends on your state. Most require a universal symbol, a warning statement, a batch and testing label area and, for cannabis, opaque packaging. Will a vape cartridge fit?
Yes. A 0.5 gram cartridge fits the 0.75 by 4.5 inch tube and a 1 gram cartridge fits the 1 by 4.5, each in a foam or paperboard cradle so it does not rattle. The short 1 by 2.5 inch tube holds a cartridge without the battery for a tighter retail box.
How is the pre roll and vape tube different from a vape cartridge box?
The tube is slim paperboard, round or square, for one to five pre rolls or a single cartridge, with a paper slip lid or a child resistant push-and-turn cap tested to 16 CFR 1700.20, from 200 units in 10 to 14 business days after proof. The vape cartridge box is an 18pt SBS tuck-top or slide box for one cartridge, with flat panels for dosage and compliance text, from 500 units in 10 to 12 business days. If the pack itself has to be child resistant, the tube with the CR cap is the option built for it.
