Gift tags
300 gsm, foil option200 minimum · 7 to 9 business daysA gift tag is a small printed card on 300 gsm board with a punched hole and a length of twine, made to go on a gift rather than stay on a product. We produce them from 200 units in 7 to 9 business days after proof, in a stock shape or a custom die-cut notch. Most tags run 2 by 3 or 2.25 by 3.5 inches, smaller and lighter than a retail hang tag.
When to choose it, and when not to
Choose a gift tag when the piece is meant to be written on, torn off, or tossed after the gift is opened, and the job is a name and a short message rather than a brand story. It's the cheapest printed piece in the catalog and the one that often gets skipped, which is exactly why a foiled tag on kraft twine reads as a considered detail rather than an afterthought. It suits seasonal packaging, subscription boxes, retail gift-with-purchase, and any brand that wants "to" and "from" written on something nicer than a sticky note.
Choose a hang tag instead when the card needs to carry a price, a size, or care instructions and stay attached through a retail sale, since a hang tag is built on heavier board with an eyelet option for handling. Choose a belly band if the message needs to wrap around the box rather than hang off it, because a gift tag is tied on and a belly band is slipped over.

Questions people ask
What twine comes with the tag?
Cotton, jute or a thin waxed cotton, in 6 to 8 inch lengths. Tags ship with twine loose by default so you can tie them at the moment of gifting. If you want them pre-tied, ask with your quote and we confirm whether it is available for your run.
Is there room to write on it?
Yes, if you leave a blank panel on the proof. The usual layout prints the front full color and leave the back mostly clear with a thin rule or a small "to / from" line, which is the part people actually write on.
Can it be a custom shape, like a star or a snowflake?
Any shape a die can cut: a star, a leaf, a circle, a tag with a notch at the top. A custom die adds one step and no extra lead time at 200 units. We round sharp inside corners to about 0.08 in on the proof so the point doesn't crease or tear.
What's the real difference between this and a hang tag?
Weight, price point, and job. A hang tag runs heavier, 350 gsm, and is built to survive being handled at retail with an eyelet option; it's the tag that comes on the product. A gift tag is lighter, 300 gsm, cheaper per unit, and is meant to be written on and travel with the gift, not the product. If in doubt: does it need to say a price or a size, or does it need to say a name? That answers it.
Do you print both sides?
Yes, in the same pass at no extra lead time. Foil and deboss run one side only unless you ask for both.
What is the minimum order for gift tags?
200 units, and reorders carry the same minimum. Lead time is 7 to 9 business days after you approve the free digital proof.
