Pet treat pouch

Matte laminate, zipper200 minimum · 10 to 12 business days

A pet treat pouch is a stand up barrier bag with a strong press-to-close zipper, sized for dog and cat treats by weight and built with a grease-resistant sealant layer for jerky and baked goods. We produce them, printed digitally, from 200 units in 10 to 12 business days after proof, on matte or kraft laminate. The 4 ounce and 8 ounce sizes cover most treat ranges.

When to choose it, and when not to

Choose a pet treat pouch for jerky, biscuits, freeze-dried raw, dental chews and training treats sold by weight at a pet store, a farmers market or online. The heavy zipper matters more here than on a snack pouch, because the bag is opened dozens of times over a month and the buyer notices when it stops sealing. Kraft laminate reads as small-batch and natural; matte white with a window reads as a brand with a range.

Choose a smell proof mylar bag with full foil for freeze-dried raw or fish treats that need a true odor and oxygen barrier and no window. Choose a hanging tab carton when the product is a chew or a toy that hangs on a peg and does not need a resealable bag.

Questions people ask

Will grease from jerky or peanut butter treats stain the bag?

Not through the film. The inside layer is a PE sealant that oil does not pass through, so the printed outside stays clean. Where you will see grease is on the inside of a clear window, which fogs after a week with oily treats. For those, use a metallized film without a window or put the window high on the front where the treats do not rest.

How strong is the zipper?

We fit a heavier profile press-to-close zipper on pet treat bags than on snack bags, with a wider channel that resists crumbs, so it keeps closing cleanly through the repeated opening a bag of treats gets. If you want a pocket zipper hidden under the tear strip for a cleaner look, that is available on sizes over 4 ounces.

Are the films safe for pet food?

Yes. The laminates are the same food-contact grade films we run for human snacks, and the film documentation is supplied with the quote. Pet food labeling rules are set by your state feed office and AAFCO guidance; we reserve the panel space and the wording is yours.

Can I have a bone shaped window?

Yes. The window is just the area where we leave off the white underprint, so any shape you draw works: a bone, a paw, a circle, a full strip. Keep it at least 0.5 inch from the seals and the zipper. A 2 by 3 inch bone on a 5 by 8 inch bag is the most common.

What size holds 8 ounces of treats?

It depends on the treat. Dense biscuits fit 8 ounces in a 5 by 8 by 3 inch pouch. Light freeze-dried pieces need the 6 by 9.5 by 3.5 inch bag for the same weight. Send us a sample and we test fill before you commit to a size.

How is a pet treat pouch different from a stand up pouch?

The pet treat pouch is a stand up pouch set up for treats: a heavier press-to-close zipper with a wider channel that resists crumbs, a grease-resistant sealant layer for jerky and peanut butter treats, and an optional bone-shaped window. The stand up pouch is the general version for dry goods. Both start at 200 units in 10 to 12 business days after proof. High-fat or crumbly treats need the pet treat build.
