Kraft PE laminate
Kraft PE laminate is natural kraft paper laminated to a polyethylene seal layer, the natural-look pouch film for tea, granola and bath salts. The paper outer prints one or two colors cleanly and feels like a paper bag, while the PE inside lets the pouch heat seal. On its own it is a low barrier film; add a foil layer, kraft/AL/PE, when oxygen or odor matters.

Choose kraft PE for products sold on a natural, handmade feel with modest shelf-life needs: loose tea, granola, bath salts, dried botanicals, some pet treats. It looks at home next to kraft cartons and kraft mailers.
Skip plain kraft PE for coffee, supplements, high-fat snacks or anything with a long shelf life; choose foil barrier laminate or a kraft/AL/PE structure. For bright full color print and a matte finish, matte barrier laminate prints better.

Questions about kraft PE laminate
Is a kraft pouch recyclable as paper?
Not as plain paper. The PE seal layer is bonded to the kraft, so it is a mixed-material laminate. Do not print a paper recycling claim on it.
Can kraft PE be used for coffee?
Only with a foil layer added, kraft/AL/PE, and a degassing valve. Plain kraft/PE does not hold enough barrier for roasted coffee.
How does print look on a kraft pouch?
Like print on a paper bag: one or two strong colors read well, bright colors and photographs print darker. White ink is a common way to lift a logo.
Kraft PE or matte barrier laminate?
Kraft PE for the natural paper look on low-barrier products. Matte barrier laminate for full color print and a little more barrier.
