A cake slice box is a small folding carton sized to hold a single slice of cake upright without it sliding or the frosting smearing against the lid, built on food-grade board with an optional window so the slice is visible before opening. We produce them from 300 units, ready in about 8 to 10 business days after proof.

When to choose it, and when not to

Choose a cake slice box for a bakery or cafe selling individual slices for grab-and-go or delivery, where frosting clearance and a secure fit matter more than they would for a whole cake box.

Choose a full cake box instead if you're selling whole cakes rather than individual slices, since the slice box here is sized and shaped specifically around a single portion and won't fit a whole cake.

Questions people ask

Will the box actually clear a tall layer cake slice without smashing the frosting?

Our standard tall size is built with clearance for a typical multi-layer slice. Tell us your cake's actual height and frosting style, since a very tall or heavily piped slice may need a custom depth.

Can I get a window to show the slice and layers?

Yes, a window in the lid is popular for slice boxes since the visible layers and frosting are often the selling point.

Does the interior coating keep frosting from sticking to the board?

The food-grade coating reduces sticking better than plain uncoated board. A very soft or melting frosting can still leave some residue on contact, which is normal for any paperboard box.

Is there a way to keep the slice from sliding around in transit?

The box is sized for a snug fit that limits sliding. For a delivery-heavy business, we can also build in a small interior tab or divider to hold the slice in place, so ask us about that option.

Can I order a mixed batch of wedge and rectangular slice shapes?

Yes, each shape runs as its own job with its own 300-unit minimum. Ordering both shapes together in one combined order is fine.

Do you print nutrition or allergen information on the box?

We print whatever text you provide on the panel you specify. Confirming the correct required wording for your product and state is on your side.

How is the cake slice box different from the cake box?

The slice box holds one portion upright, in a wedge or rectangle, on food-grade SBS with a greaseproof interior and enough height that the lid clears the frosting, with an optional window, from 300 units in 8 to 10 business days after proof. The cake box is a deeper 20pt SBS lock-corner box for a whole cake on a board, from 200 units in 10 to 12 business days. Cafes selling by the slice need the slice box.
